Pearl Collar & Denim Shirt

February 8th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

Denim Shirt

Quick outfit post with my latest DIY collar! I used this collar yesterday on the Diet Coke & Benefit Press Launch!

I choose the washed denim shirt as it is one of my favorite garments on my wardrobe and I matched with the green lacy shorts that brings a small bite of summer into my look.

The green on the shorts contrast with the copper colour of my collar, bringing almost a St. Patricks day vibe!

Outfit:

Shirt: Forever 21

Shorts: Forever 21

Boots: Zara

DIY paradise with copper pearls

February 7th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

diy copper pearls collar

This is me talking again about DIY! I am getting addicted? I hope so!

This time my experience was the hand-made collar with copper pearls. I like to call it Ginger

What do you need to recreate it?

 - Neutral fabric.

- Pearls

- Transparent Thread

- Fabric glue

- Ribbon

- Scissor

- White paper

How to do it yourself?

Draw a collar on the white paper (use the help of a cd if you want is as rounded as mine) and cut it out. Using the template you just created to cut it on the fabric (do not forget to leave space to put the ribbon).

Make a knot in the end of the thread and go adding pearls to it as if you were doing a necklace. Using the fabric glue, stick the pearls to the fabric (to make the drying process faster use you hair dryer on the coldest option).

On the very end of the collar cut out a small line. Now pass the ribbon trough it!

Tcharaaa Done.

First Steps on Layering

February 3rd, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

Daphne Lopes Layering

Layering is one of the most difficult steps a girl can take. Maybe it is because the “Society Fashion Rules” make us be afraid of looking ridiculous or maybe it is the old fashion commandment of not mixing different prints.

The truth is that mixing prints and layering are one of the moment’s most audacious fashion statement.  The basic rule to create a layered look is HAVE FUN.

I am the kind of girl that make the safe layering combination but today I decided to be a bit bold and create a Peplum with two skirts ans play a bit of  the mixing prints game putting together polka dots and nautical print. Not to mention the mixture of textures with cotton, taffeta, chiffon and leather.

Looking to this outfit you wouldn’t imagine the amount of time I spent in front of my mirror try to guess if this was cool or not. Well.. I’ve decided that I loved it!

What do you all thing about this look?

Pastel Smokey Eyes

Pastel shades

Pastel Shades

smokey eye

After watching Prada’s campaign video I was inspired by the  Pastel Shades Trend on a different context: The 50′s in U.S.A.

I love the way Prada used in S/S12 such a feminine Era mixed up with the pastel shades. A mix of two trends, Lady-Like and Pastels Shades, is what guarantee Prada a double hit collection.

Let’s not talk about the amazing shoes, because they are subject enough for an entire book!

- Bringing the trends to the make-up world - The first thing I have in mind when I think about Lady Like is “Cat Eyes” so that’s why I’ve decided to create a pastel smokey look with flicks!

What you need:

- Pastel green eye shadow

- Black eye shadow

- Vanilla Pigment

- Black Gel Liner

Use the vanilla pigment to highlight the inner corner and the brow bone. Apply the pastel-green on you eye-lid. Define the socket with the black eye-shadow.  Blend the green and the black to death. Create a flick with your favorite black eye-liner.

Oh I couldn’t forget about my Lilac safari shirt (thank mummy)!

All “pastelized”, ready to go!

The Shiny Trousers

February 1st, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

shiny trousers DIY shirt

This is another example of “How to wear Shiny Trousers“. Using my beloved silver denim this time paired up with my D.I.Y Shirt and my newest acquisition, a pair of white leather Converse, I put together this outfit to go to New Look Press Office today!

What I love most about this look is that is really cool and stylish while is also comfy. Sometimes using shiny garments during day-time can be tricky, but matching up with white and florals is my best tip for S/S!

Today I had the chance to photograph the mood-board I did some weeks ago featuring Spring/Summer 2012. I put together the biggest trends for S/S12 such as Pastels, Tribal Prints, Rock Chick, Metallics, Lady Like and some other related to make-up and beauty in general.

s/s12 mood-board

Talking about mood-boards in general, I recommend to everybody who wants to get inspired to develop a mood-board close by your wardrobe. It is pretty easy to make one: First of all you just need the board (haha), magazines or images you like, pins and creativity! (It is also a great idea as decoration)

Well, this is it girlies!

Top 10 Trends 2011

December 20th, 2011 by Daphne Lopes

TOP10 2011 fashion trends

We can absolutely say that 2011 wasn’t a boring year for fashion at all. We had scandals (ex: Galliano), successful collaborations (H&M and Versace) and  fabulous weddings (Royal Wedding, Kate Moss etc).

Crossing the catwalk  S/S 11 and F/W 11 we have seen many trends, and of course , we all have our favorite ones . So, as I’m a ” list-maniac”, I compiled a  list of my  Top 10 2011 Trends

1-  Boutique-Punk: Some people might not realize but they are all using this trend with their studded leather jackets, buskins and leather pants. I am a huge fan of this trend mixed with some romantic pieces or leopard printed garments!

2- Lady Like: Bought from 60′s the full circle skirts and the midi dresses. It is all about the femininity and hour-glass body shape

3- Sheer Clothing: It was the rule number 1 on the red carpet this year, but it is also a fashion statement for the high-street!

4- Color Blocking:  We have seen this one a lot on the catwalk, but Gucci gave us a master class on how to use color blocking! After Kim kardashian, Rihanna, Nicole Scherzinger and Cheryl Cole this trend exploded and every single shop in Dublin was all about color blocking! Absolutely success on S/S 11!

5- Pleats: Who haven’t seen pleats in 2011? It is impossible to ignore that the high-street mixed the ” Lady Like” with Pleats and gave us good few pairs of midi-pleated-skirts on S/S. Not forgetting about my beloved leather pleated skirt on F/W 11!

6- Pijama-Outerwear: Loungewear as the inspiration of loose, soft and printed garments! Comfy and Stylish!

7- 70′s: The sophisticated glamour and bohemian vibe from the 70′s came straight down to the high-street. From the S/S 11 to F/w 11 all I see is a bit of this decade!

8- Women’s Tuxedo: It was a trend worn just by the most audacious women! It is edgy and trendy but if your focus is show off your body, this trend is definitely not for you!

9- Fetish: Louis Vuitton brought the fetish back this year with lots of hotpants, boots and jackets. Success enough to bring back Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell to the fashion-shows!

10- Polka Dots: Every size, everywhere, in more than one garment per time. Polka dots was the highest trend of the year brought by Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney .
