Burgundy Shower

October 15th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

FW12-Burgundy-Trend- head-to-toe-fall-trend-autumn-winter-colour-trend-color-wine

Monochrome outfits used to be unfashionable for years, but taking the latest Autumn/Winter catwalks, head-to-toe burgundy is the hot it gets this fall.

After all neon, graphic prints and colour-blocking trends I find refreshing to wear one-toned outfits. Although a entire wine-toned look can sound like overdoing, mixing textures can break the dullness. Wool is great fabric for the colder weather and sparkle is certainly one of the best ways to add some fun to any outfit.

By incorporating key pieces of this season into your ‘all-burgundy’ outfit you are certainly making a style statement. Accessories will help you to create an even more trendy outfit. Add your arm-party and you will have a front row look!

If you are on the team of people that believe unitards are only for babies and it should always me a ‘must-run-0f for grown up women, get over it! Unitards are the coolest thing in town.

Flicking trough Asos website I cannot resist them all. One hyper than the other, not only because of how nice this figure-hugger garment looks but also because its the practical choice.

Could never get ready for a night out faster than when I choose my unitard. One statement piece, always better than a dress because you don’t have to worry about your milk-coloured legs.

Heels or wedges, bracelets or necklace, clutch or shoulder-bag. Doesn’t matter what are your accessories choices, this is a ‘safe’ look. I promise you can’t ruin it – unless you don’t have the figure-.

I hate Peplum

August 14th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

i-hate-peplum-irish-fashion-blog

I am not too sure if Victoria Beckham will forgive me, but I must confess: I hate Peplum.

I cannot find it flattering in any way or beautiful or fun. I didn’t realize the proportions of my dislike before peplums were omnipresent.

When it comes for shopping I feel like this style is stalking me. There is no shop that haven’t got a Peplum dress featured on its displays.

“Perhaps I will be safe online, cause I only browse for things I like”

I was a silly silly bunny for thinking like this since 99% of the newsletters on my e-mail send me ” the perfect peplum dress” daily.

Not even on my sleep I get away from peplums, as some days ago I had a dream that I was going to a ball and my mum got me a peplum dress and I was horrible looking wearing it!

I might be the case for a fashion exorcism.

Tangerine Tango & Floral Print

February 28th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

Good morning grey Tuesday!

Today I woke up bold, with the desire of trying crazy stuff… I opened my wardobe and I said: I want the brightest thing I have.

First thing that came to my mind was my orange skirt! Tangerine Tango is “The” colour for S/S12 so I can surely consider myself a visionary cause I bought this one on S/S11.

Florals are always in on summer but the colours on this floral printed shirt are just amazing. A breath-taking mix of lime, blue and purple.

The shoes are just my usual golden J.C.

Well… you must be thinking: What is so bold about this outfit?

Ok… this is not a reeeeally crazy outfit, but you might have noticed my blue lips. They are my bite of surreality today!

Pyjama Party

February 23rd, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

The pyjama trend is definitely a hit for S/S12.

I can’t say it was love at the first sight but as I see the garments inspired on pyjamas hitting the displays of the retailers I can say that this is clearly the most elegant of them all.

In between lots of prints and florals is relaxing to see some minimalistic pieces.

I went for a quick shopping tour today around Dublin City Centre and I could not be happier with my pyjama acquisition. It is one of that outfits that you look effortless trendy and elegant, what I love.

Not to mention how comfortable you feel in them! It’s like being on you p.j’s all day!

It might be a S/S12 thing but in Smithfield High Street Fashion I have seen it for ages! So I can call my “lovely” neighbours visionaries!

Snake Printed Trousers Outfit

February 20th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

Daphne Lopes Snake printed trousers

Monday mornings are never really fashionable. Just to think that still other 5 days to the weekend is kind of a torture, isn’t it?

Well… To start this cold week I am wearing snake skin trousers. A pastel shade of pink on my top (thinking about DIY-ing this collar).  And bright green pumps. They are all trends from S/S12 “printed trousers”, “pastel shades” and “bright shoes”.

To bring a bit of this forever-autumn weather that we live in Ireland I used a burgundy cardigan.

I accessorized my not-slept-well  face with beautiful wayfarer sunglasses. Also added a bit of colour on the rings and bracelet.

Let me know what you think!

DIY Studded Collar

February 16th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

That’s me DIYing again! Today was the studded collar turn!

This collar is a bit different from the other ones I did before, cause it goes further down until the button bit of the shirt!

Also to achieve this result I did not create the template, I used a old shirt, what makes the process 10 times easier and faster. Not to mention that this collar is even better cause it is a “recycling your wardrobe” option.

I like to call this babe “Punkness” cause the result was a bit “Punk is not dead” with all this studs. But this is what “rock chick” is all about, isn’t it??

Well.. If you want to make your just follow the recipe! Ubber easy I promise!

C’mon I want to hear your opinion about it!

Valentine’s Day: Surprise Outfit

February 10th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

Valentines day outfit

As Valentine’s day hits the corner I decided to create a outfit thinking about what would I wear if I did not know where I was going!

When it comes to surprises I love it, but not to know what you should wear is a strange feeling. He could be doing a night in with lots of DVD’s and preparing himself a dinner or he could have booked the best restaurant in town… Well, Not going too casual and not going over dressed is my best tip!

I choose a tulip skirt from zara in a really sophisticated shade of copper with black prints, this will be the statement garment! I matched up with black opaque tights to combate the cold!

The top is Stella McCartney inspired, also black but the charm is all on the shoulder details in sheer polka dots print.

The shoes is all about how you feel more confortable. You can go for simple heels or amazing ballerinas, I choose a nice pair of oxford shoes, my favorite pair of not heeled shoes, that makes this serious look a bit more like me!

In terms of accessories I am the one that never fears to be over accessorized. So a golden chain and big and colorful rings bring a bit more of personality to this outfit!

And Valentine’s day also inspire for buying new lingerie! So this is my Valentine’s day choice for this year! I wanted to keep it simple and feminine.

Hope you all enjoy your valentine’s (even though your valentine is your best friend)!

DIY Skull Tee

February 9th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

DIY skull t-shirt

This is me talking about DIY again people! I am seriously addicted to DIY that you are probably thinking I am changing my blog from Lilac to  Daphne DIY Diaries.

My latest craft was a tee and now is a sleeveless top! I like to call it Blinger Skull (guess why?).

I was in love with this skull print ages ago, but I am not the big fan of t-shirts so, how to make it look more like me? Well… this one was pretty easy.

DIY Skull Tee

You will need:

- T-shirt ( 2 sizes bigger than your actual)

- Scissor

- Beads

- Fabric Glue

How to DIY?

1- Pick all the materials you will need

2- Using the Scissor cut out the sleeves of the tee (I like it really big on the sides so I cut it almost until the very end, just leaving 10cm in the end). To make both sides even: After you cut the first side, fold the tee in half and then cut the other side under the ready side.

3- Now that the sleeves are done, open your shirt and count the crystals you will need.

4- Start glueing them.

5- Let it dry ( to accelerate this process use a hair drier on the coolest air)

6- Ready to go!

Hope you all liked it!
