New Year’s Resolution: Time Management

January 6th, 2013 by Daphne Lopes

new year resolutions time management 2013 fashion blogging

It might be a little too late to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a great New Year, but I’ve been so late for everything on the last couple of months that my brain just couldn’t think about anything else to talk about.

Saying publicly that I’m having a lack of creativity and motivation isn’t probably my best move, but since I started the new phase of Lilac I committed myself on being honest with my readers.

Some people promised to go more to the gym, others just wanted to read a bit more, but while screaming the last second of the countdown to 2013 I only wished to manage my time better this year.

I realized I could only optimize my time if I prioritize tasks – I still have to accept that I cannot do EVERYTHING I want at the same time – so I decided to write down all the activities I have to do and the ones I want to do. Compile the list wasn’t an easy task, ‘HAVE TO’ and  ’WANT TO’ can be confusing when you think you have to do the things you want.

Alongside to college and work I had blogging, reading, practicing make-up (believe it or not, when you only do your make-up in a rush on the train, you end up forgetting everything you learned on that expensive course), french lessons, boyfriend etc.

Work takes 50% of my life by itself, so joining college was a difficult decision, but it is now crucial to my career, so when I think about it, 90% of my time is committed already. If my life was a video-game, the green bar you have on the top would be empty by now, so how can I have time to do the extra things I want to?

Well, I didn’t find an answer, and that’s why after not posting on the blog for weeks, I came to my senses and realized I should stop punishing myself for not posting daily anymore and do something about it. I am committing myself to a weekly post, so I can keep my inspirations and updates going – and don’t have to deal with the pain of seeing this page dying.

One resolution that will hopefully change my life and the way I deal with the real life.

The Jumper

October 18th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

The Jumper is a old winter friend, cosy and warm, but always considered a topping for your pijama bottoms, or a ‘supermaket-outfit’.

Things changed completely when Rihanna stepped out on her Kenzo’s jumper, this piece made the top 10 on most fashionista’s winter wish-list. Nowadays, a good grey over sized jumper is what the coolest kids wear.

Studs, diamonds, crazy prints and logos are welcome. Topshop and Urban Outfitters have a great selection, but let’s face it, men’s jumpers are always better – and warmer. Hit the menswear section of the high-street shops, they always have, logo and printed jumpers.

Using simple DIY tricks, you can customize a unique jumper. A good idea is to get yourself some studs and apply to the shoulders, cuffs or collar. But if you want to go pro, you can cut your logo in a paper and use it as a stencil to apply the fabric dye on it!

Mach your new garment with boyfriend jeans, leather skinny trousers or skirts and create a different look every time you wear the same jumper.

Engagement Rings

August 13th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

v

It was only by helping a friend of mine to get the perfect engament ring for his proposal that I realized how much pressure our loved ones go trough during this task.

After hunting down for the chosen one he decided to go online! I would be a little bit afraid about it, but luckily he wasn’t cause when the parcel hit the mail box, it was only the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in my life. It was personal and different, something that his girlfriend would certainly love.

He got the ring at 77 Diamonds, I highly recommend not only for the price, but also because the engagement rings are also a piece of art. Even if you are not planning on getting engaged any soon, do follow them to keep yourself inspired and updated on the latest jewelry trends.

Wardrobe Key Pieces

A question that is always present when talking wardrobe remake is: key pieces – and I am not talking about that multicoloured fur coat you think it could be a must-have.

The basic structure of an wardrobe is what makes your wardrobe manageable from one season to the other. Other than buy quantity, have in mind with this pieces you should always buy quality. A goof fitting, cut and fabric will guarantee you a longer and happier relationship with this garments.

1- The Blazer: It is considered a key piece because it goes during the dar or night. With you casual looks but also with your formals. Navy and black are colors that you have to search for when shopping for blazers.

2- A Trench Coat: Honestly, you are going to wear it more that  you wear your own skin. Messy it all up, roll up the sleeves and play with the colar for a modern and cool look.

3- A Sweater: You can’t deny how useful they are but it is also a classic and fashionable piece. Use it with denim and add some bracelets for a nice touch.

4- The Tank Top: It will go with anything you have from your basic blue jeans to your colorful printed skirt. Invest in a good fabric and cut so it will fit you nicely and you won’t be all day worrying about the loose neck.

5- The Black Dress: Well known as the little black dress this is one of the most versatile pieces on your wardrobe. There is always a LBD for every women.

6- Jeans: The best fitting you can find, the one you never take out of you. Is your best friend for all occasions so choose it wisely.

7- Leather Jacket: Keep it simple – don’t invest on the red one you loved but costs a small fortune. Black or tan will always be the most used ones. The coat you can match with basically anything in the world. The better the quality more use you are going to get out of it.

When you have this pieces you will find that is much easier to compose any trendy-outfit, you will feel you have everything you need.

Amanda Seyfried: Red Bob

August 9th, 2011 by Daphne Lopes

Amanda Seyfried, known for her long blonde hair, changes dramatically for the film “In Time”.

The actress appeared with bob haircut in red, acting with Justin Timberlake on the set of recordings!

We used to see “little girl” Amanda, but for this movie, she looks more like Femme Fatale!

The actress, 25, was wearing a mini black shorts, tights and high heeled boots! Outifit she complements later with a long coat and leather gloves!

Justin doesn’t leave the comfort zone of the gray suit!

Vincent Kartheiser and Cillian Murphy are also part of the cast of the film that has been recorded since last year, but because of some changes was delayed and only hits theaters in October of that year.

From “boring girl” to “Femme Fatale” in a haircut!

Anyway…I never liked her with that “Holy Face”…
