Black and White

August 15th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

During summer I had a color fever, going from neons to colorful tribals, but as the cold comes and the A/W collections invade the shops my fever is fading.

I’ve been into the classic B&W for a long time and every now and then I run back to it. It is safe but its also sophisticated and sleek.

I can not wait for transforming my wardrobe in White and Black for the new season.

You can please yourself with this delicious drop of inspiration.

This three little things listed above on the title are definitely my favorite fashion pieces. I couldn’t describe my style in a word but it is certainly something really similar to a female version of a punk cowboy living in a cold land.

Not forgetting that I love mixing prints and layering so sometimes I could look like a punk pimp cowboy living in a cold land.

Well, what I really want to say in this post is how fascinated I am by Vogue’s latest Editorial called  ”Don’t Mess with Texas” with the beautiful Karen Elson (I know it isn’t the latest new ever but I only got the time to talk about it now!).

Going trough the pages I don’t see a thing that I don’t like, I would love to own every single garment of this shoot. Leather skirts, acid washed denim, cowboy boots, tassels and brown belts.

It really transported me to the whole Texas atmosphere and made me hope for my Texas days and a amazing wardrobe.

Style Icon

May 31st, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

One of the most common questions between fashion friends is: Who is your style icon?

It’s funny because I was always the girl that struggled to answer this, maybe because I didn’t have a clear concept of my own personal style yet (not that it is a problem cause personal style is something that changes a lot and take time until you actually understand what is more ” you” and less ” you now”).

But somehow nowadays I see myself looking a lot trough Daisy Lowe outfits and I realized how similar are our styles.

I love everything about her, from the look to the personality, I think I just love a timelessrock chick (and I’ve always been one myself)!

Now, honestly, who is your style icon?!

H&M Against Aids Tribal Jacket

Daphne Lopes Fashion Blogger Dublin Tribal Jacket H&M Agains Aids Photoshoot Pink Bra

During this week I had to (literally) fight over this jacket in H&M cause was the last one (displayed on the window),I put on hold and I was waiting to get it so baad. When the window was take appart I went to ask about the jacket and they said was on hold for another person… well… in the end of the 2 hours fight with every single staff on the shop I finally got it!

I’ve been in love with colorful tribal prints and H&M Agains Aids was just my dream-collection. Everything was so cheap I could not believe the amazing prices.

I also got a pair of shorts and small bits and pieces of jewelry but this jacket is so far my favorite garment ever. So it really deserved a photoshoot. The top is menswear from newlook (really shoes how much I love the  tv show ” the fresh prince of bel air” plus “Smurfs”), the shorts are from Forever 21 and the shoes from Zara!

An Amazing thank you to Jason McDonald and the make-up artist and Anca Condrache.

Lady Vengeace Inspiration

December 1st, 2011 by Daphne Lopes

Photographer: Jason Mc Donald

M.U.A: Daphne Lopes

Model: Black Swan Persona

Inspired by her favorite trilogy, the model “Black Swan Persona’ brought together a team to do a photoshoot.

For those unfamiliar with the plot: A 16 years old girl who is convicted of murdering children and after long years in jail, seeks revenge against the killer.

The transition from good girl to a woman in seeking justice is evident on the makeup. From an innocent face “no make-up like” to red and delineated eyes.

Who did not watch the movie, it worths a friday night with popcorn!

Is that difficult to discover my favorite one?

Peaches Geldof + Cultural Mix

December 1st, 2011 by Daphne Lopes

Either for the dramatic weight loss, rumors about drugs or because of her style, Peaches Geldof is a socialite that generates controversy.

To the ones that never hear about, it is worth to know that she is british, writer and actress of her own TV Shows, fashion journalist and model.

In 2006, Tatler created the list “Top Ten Fashion Icons” and the 22 year old presenter was the number 7, and also the youngest one. On the following year, FMH readers voted for the “100 most sexy women” giving to her the position number 23.

After having her naked pictures on the internet in 2010 and be target of drug abuse acusations, Ultimo Underwear broke up the contract with Pixie Geldof ‘s sister.

Despite of being English, she lives in NY since her 18th aniversary. This cultural mix influence (a lot) on her style, that can be defined as Rock on the Beach.

Peaches was spotted at Y-3 (New York Fashion Week) wearing a lavander sequin dress, on the best style of Alexa Chung, and really desirable shoes. The wavy hair and the natural make up were very well chosen for the look. Besides of carrying a satchel, the best accessory was the boyfriend, Thomas Cohen.

Whatever the reason to be so skinny, she needs to find a middle term between “old me” and “new me”.

Forgeting the measures … What do you think about Peaches Geldof style?

Russian Invasion

December 1st, 2011 by Daphne Lopes

For a while we have been seeing successful russian models, such as Sasha Pivovarova and her exotic looks, Natalia Vodianova and the classic and Ruslana Korshunova with her extremely long hair; all with porcelain skin and professional versatility.

“I focused more on forest fairies and mermaids than real characters”

- Sasha Pivovarova

But fashion in Russia, before being a blank economic statistic, is today one of the main focus for women. Yep, the Russians came to stay, since they are nowadays one of the greatest haute couture buyers.

And it’s not Just from beauty and consumism that the russiand get a place in the fashion industry, but also as designers; being the most well knowned Slava Vyacheslav, who opened Russia Fashion Week in 2008.

Names such as Valentin Yudashkin and Masha Sharoeva also show us the modern Russia.

Elena Suprun also gives us the romantic feel, making it possible even for the coldest weather.

Something that comes to notice is how russiand like skirts and clothes that have movement. Well, I like it too!

How much does your scale weight?

September 7th, 2011 by Daphne Lopes

Imagine the nightmare it would be for us poor moulding professionals if in the same collection we had to do different pieces, one with a largest bust, one with a larger tummy, one with larger tights, etc. It would be hell, nothing would be ready on time for the runway. But in editorials, collections for sale… why not?

Next Catwalk Queen

August 25th, 2011 by Daphne Lopes

The eyes were not all focused on Kate Moss in her marriage. Despite the supermodel be the spotlight of the party, who was there and we can not fail to notice is her sister.

Lottie Moss, 13, already fit the profile of the catwalk with her peach skin and blond hair. Many are betting on her as the “next Kate Moss”. After all someone has to inherit the throne right?

Carol White, founder of the agency “Premier Models” and responsible for Naomi Campbell carreer said that Lottie has the “English rose look”.

‘Lottie looks beautiful and fresh – a very English rose look.

‘Generally you need the height. Kate is an exception to the rule because models need to be 5ft?9in to 5ft?11in. I think Lottie would make a lovely young model.’

Carol White

The future supermodel, Kate’s father’s daughter with his second wife, already poses with vintage looks to the family store in West Sussex.

Lottie’s beauty is compared with Cindy Crawford.

‘She’s even got a Cindy Crawford-style mole on her chin. She’s the full package. If she plays her cards right, she could eclipse Kate.’

Karen kay

With a reference letter from Kate Moss is easy right?
