Slutty Halloween Costumes

October 19th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

halloween costumes theme article slutty halloween costumes sexy halloween costumes

Halloween, also known as All Hallow’s Eve, is one of my favorite holidays since I was a little child. Trick-or-treating, costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, and watching horror films are some of the many things you can do on the 31st of October!

But Halloween has recently become a date that it’s ok to wear a slutty costume and go parting. Most girls costume ideas follow the sexy route. Bunnies, cats and other fuzzy animals are the most popular. Not to mention the ‘sexy’version of every single professional such as nurses, police, fire-man, plumber etc.

The 31st of October is all about horror, supernatural, dead, monsters etc. So I can’t understand why/when Bridezilla season finished and Slutty Cheer-Leader season began.

While researching for some costumes online, the only thing that shows up is ‘Sexy-blablabla’. I was just wondering… Where would it be appropriate to wear a Bay Watch Swimsuit? I mean, if you are going to a Halloween-orgy it’s fine to be a shiny sexy half-naked unicorn, but I don’t think the same thing applies for most party venues.

As a make-up artist I hate the desperate Halloween sexpot style, I like scary, funny and innovative. Of course, I understand most people don’t have the time/money to create a fabulous costume from scratch, but it’s ok to go lazy! Dead celebrities and film characters are always welcome (and easy to re-create!)

Please a little more of creativity and a little less of ass!

Many thanks to House of Colour for the amazing bowl-work on my hair! I am loving it!

Ear-cuffs… either you love it or hate it! I am on the sympathetic side of things for once! I am serious addicted to them, it looks so boho-chic-yaba-daba-cool. (Mine are from New Look)

My latest haircut isn’t the most exciting news ever but what else can I talk about that doesn’t involve prince Harry and his naked butt?

P.s.: On my lips a mix of 05 and 08 Kate Moss for Rimmel!

Mister Perfect

mister perfect givenchy eraser make-up pen miracle product review

I am not a big believer when it comes to beauty products reviews but Mister Perfect Instant Make-up Eraser by Givenchy is perhaps one of the most mazing things I’ve ever tried.

Mister Perfect is a “make-up remover pen”  and it is the ultimate answer to small make-up mistakes such as flicks, eyebrows and lipstick.

Cotton buds are still good and cheap, you don’t need to let them go. But when precision is needed the thin end on Givenchy’s miracle-pen is the answer for your prays.

Bourjois Bronzer

June 5th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

Daphne-Lopes-Fashin-Blog-Irish-Fashion-Beuaty-Bronzer-Bourjois-Paris-Delice-de-Poudre.

I’ve been a really huntswoman trying to find the best bronzer for my skin. I am quite yellow toned and every single bronzer I’ve bought on the last months were just awful orange looking.

I tried many different ones from cheap brands such as Maybelline to Y.S.L, different textures and I couldn’t find something that would suit me perfect.

But the chronicles of Daphne and hunt for the perfect bronzer had its happy ending yesterday, when I went to A’s house and I found out the bronzer she uses is the Borjois Paris – Delice de Poudre. It is just that perfect shade of brown that every single girl aims when doing contouring.

This morning I ran to Boots and I got the last one the shade I wanted and it was only 10 euros!

Love a bargain!

In terms of accessorizing I used an arm-party of grey black and silver bracelets matching with a black necklace. The heart shaped sunglasses and me are quite old friends, I just can’t get over them!

The photos are by Jason McDonald, Make-up by Anca Condrache and styling by me!

Soon I will post the whole photoshoot!

Daphne Lopes Fashion Blogger Dublin Tribal Jacket H&M Agains Aids Photoshoot Pink Bra

During this week I had to (literally) fight over this jacket in H&M cause was the last one (displayed on the window),I put on hold and I was waiting to get it so baad. When the window was take appart I went to ask about the jacket and they said was on hold for another person… well… in the end of the 2 hours fight with every single staff on the shop I finally got it!

I’ve been in love with colorful tribal prints and H&M Agains Aids was just my dream-collection. Everything was so cheap I could not believe the amazing prices.

I also got a pair of shorts and small bits and pieces of jewelry but this jacket is so far my favorite garment ever. So it really deserved a photoshoot. The top is menswear from newlook (really shoes how much I love the  tv show ” the fresh prince of bel air” plus “Smurfs”), the shorts are from Forever 21 and the shoes from Zara!

An Amazing thank you to Jason McDonald and the make-up artist and Anca Condrache.

Bad Make-up Experience

March 22nd, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

Make-up-artist-Louise-Galligan-Group-hygene-importantbad-make-up-artist

As the title already says, I had an awful make-up experience at House of Colour hair competition photoshoot.

First of all I must say that the hairdressers are amazing and really friendly, I love my new hairstyle and I hope Ricky (the hairdresses that did my hair) get the prize!

BUT I also have to say that on the photoshoot I almost had an heart attack. As a make-up artist graduated by L.A Make-up Academy one of the most important things I learned was hygiene. L.A was way too expensive for what I got, but at least the basics I got!

You should NEVER blow on your brushes or on your pallets and specially not on people’s faces, as Louise the make-up artist (graduated at Galligan Group) did.

As if this wasn’t bad enough she didn’t clean her brushes in between models, double dipped on everything and used the same mascara wand for everybody.

I can’t understand how a make-up artist can act like this, it was the most unprofessional and disgusting make-up I’ve got done.

I couldn’t say no cause the hairdresser was so nervous already that I felt bad saying that I wasn’t getting my make-up done by her.

So this is me now, hoping not to get any disgusting disease

Diet Coke & Benefit: Get Glam!

February 15th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

I know that everybody already talked about it but I just had the chance today, so you might read about the Get Glam Event here too!

Well starting the whole talking about the event, it was the press launch of the partnership of Diet Coke and Benefit. My first impression was: Amazing!

The Dylan hotel was perfect inside (congratulations ThinkHouse), spotless decoration! p.s.: I still want the giant Diet Coke Bottle to myself! It was so nice to see all the familiar blogger faces and get to know this amazing collection that is Get Glam!

Margaret Urbanowicz, Daphne Lopes

I must say that everybody was stunning but I felt in love with James’ Outfit. The floral printed blazer just got my heart!

At the beginning I did not know what to wear but apparently my lime shorts were a completely success!

Daphne Lopes Get Glam Press Launch

The 3 looks that Benefit created for Get Glam are  Bernadette “the romantic”, Irene ” The rock chick” and Eleanor ” The fashionista” were recreated by Benefit’s Head Make-up Artist Lisa Potter (that was wearing a amazing neon top) and I have to say they are gorgeous.

Not to mention that the special cans of Diet Coke for Get Glam are amazing and each one of them has a code under the lead that gives every 30 minutes a make-up gift box with the fashionista look! (register the code at cokezone.ie).

On Get Glam is all about the lips and this is what I love most about the collection!

So you can imagine how happy I was when I put my hands on the goodie boxes!

Fairplay to Benefit and Diet Coke!

Pastel Smokey Eyes

February 2nd, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

Pastel shades

Pastel Shades

smokey eye

After watching Prada’s campaign video I was inspired by the  Pastel Shades Trend on a different context: The 50′s in U.S.A.

I love the way Prada used in S/S12 such a feminine Era mixed up with the pastel shades. A mix of two trends, Lady-Like and Pastels Shades, is what guarantee Prada a double hit collection.

Let’s not talk about the amazing shoes, because they are subject enough for an entire book!

- Bringing the trends to the make-up world - The first thing I have in mind when I think about Lady Like is “Cat Eyes” so that’s why I’ve decided to create a pastel smokey look with flicks!

What you need:

- Pastel green eye shadow

- Black eye shadow

- Vanilla Pigment

- Black Gel Liner

Use the vanilla pigment to highlight the inner corner and the brow bone. Apply the pastel-green on you eye-lid. Define the socket with the black eye-shadow.  Blend the green and the black to death. Create a flick with your favorite black eye-liner.

Oh I couldn’t forget about my Lilac safari shirt (thank mummy)!

All “pastelized”, ready to go!
