This three little things listed above on the title are definitely my favorite fashion pieces. I couldn’t describe my style in a word but it is certainly something really similar to a female version of a punk cowboy living in a cold land.

Not forgetting that I love mixing prints and layering so sometimes I could look like a punk pimp cowboy living in a cold land.

Well, what I really want to say in this post is how fascinated I am by Vogue’s latest Editorial called  ”Don’t Mess with Texas” with the beautiful Karen Elson (I know it isn’t the latest new ever but I only got the time to talk about it now!).

Going trough the pages I don’t see a thing that I don’t like, I would love to own every single garment of this shoot. Leather skirts, acid washed denim, cowboy boots, tassels and brown belts.

It really transported me to the whole Texas atmosphere and made me hope for my Texas days and a amazing wardrobe.

Tangerine Tango & Floral Print

February 28th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

Good morning grey Tuesday!

Today I woke up bold, with the desire of trying crazy stuff… I opened my wardobe and I said: I want the brightest thing I have.

First thing that came to my mind was my orange skirt! Tangerine Tango is “The” colour for S/S12 so I can surely consider myself a visionary cause I bought this one on S/S11.

Florals are always in on summer but the colours on this floral printed shirt are just amazing. A breath-taking mix of lime, blue and purple.

The shoes are just my usual golden J.C.

Well… you must be thinking: What is so bold about this outfit?

Ok… this is not a reeeeally crazy outfit, but you might have noticed my blue lips. They are my bite of surreality today!

Pyjama Party

February 23rd, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

The pyjama trend is definitely a hit for S/S12.

I can’t say it was love at the first sight but as I see the garments inspired on pyjamas hitting the displays of the retailers I can say that this is clearly the most elegant of them all.

In between lots of prints and florals is relaxing to see some minimalistic pieces.

I went for a quick shopping tour today around Dublin City Centre and I could not be happier with my pyjama acquisition. It is one of that outfits that you look effortless trendy and elegant, what I love.

Not to mention how comfortable you feel in them! It’s like being on you p.j’s all day!

It might be a S/S12 thing but in Smithfield High Street Fashion I have seen it for ages! So I can call my “lovely” neighbours visionaries!

DIY Studded Collar

February 16th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

That’s me DIYing again! Today was the studded collar turn!

This collar is a bit different from the other ones I did before, cause it goes further down until the button bit of the shirt!

Also to achieve this result I did not create the template, I used a old shirt, what makes the process 10 times easier and faster. Not to mention that this collar is even better cause it is a “recycling your wardrobe” option.

I like to call this babe “Punkness” cause the result was a bit “Punk is not dead” with all this studs. But this is what “rock chick” is all about, isn’t it??

Well.. If you want to make your just follow the recipe! Ubber easy I promise!

C’mon I want to hear your opinion about it!

Make your own Valentine’s Day!

February 14th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

dinner-table-decoration-idea

Today isn’t just Valentines for me! Is also my anniversary of 3 years with my BF. Lovely isn’t it?

But what to do when all restaurants are packed and all the prices are up in at least 5%? (poor boyfriends even flowers are 15 quid at this time)

I find it really romantic to stay at home, have a nice meal with a good wine. But when you live with your boyfriend this is quite a “friday night”  type of program… So how to make it different?

1- Start with the meal! Cook something different that you never tried before! (choose something safe though… otherwise it can be a disaster)

2- Decorate with candles, lights and flowers. It can make the entire dinner!!

3- Good music is always nice.

cheese fondue recipe

My choice for dinner is Cheese Fondue! Pretty easy and fast to cook. You basically only need cheese and wine.

Choose 3 types among the cheeses you like most.

Melt them in dry white wine (low temperature).

Make a nice plate of  italian bread cut in cubes, brocoli and whatever you like dipped in cheese.

You are good to go!

DIY Shoulder Pad

Summery DIY Shoulder Pad

This weekend I had to get a table for all my DIY stuff, they were not fitting on the wardrobes and shelfs anymore. I must say I love Ikea with all my heart!

To celebrate my new acquisition I decided to create a Shoulder Pad that I like to call “Summer Pad”. This one I have never seen anywhere so I can say that this is my first design!

This DIY Shoulder Pad is summery and brings charm to that beloved white shirt that we all have on our wardrobes. If you are bolder you can definitely use them on other printed garment and make it really trendy!

I used mine over a stripy shirt to go to Yamamori (Japanese Restaurant in Dublin City Centre) with my friend E., I matched with silver trousers that you all know already from older posts and studded ankle boots!

But you might be asking yourself: How to do a shoulder pad myself?

DIY Shoulder Pad

What do you need?

- White Fabric

- Flower Apliques

- Chain (1m)

- Fabric Glue

- White Tread and Niddle

- 4 Pins

How to do it?

Cut a shoulder pad template on the fabric (if the fabric is too soft cut two templates for each shoulder and sew them together using the niddle and the thread).

Cut the chain in 3 or 4 different sizes for each shoulder and sew them on the very end of the fabric.

Apply the fabric glue on the back of the flower apliques and stick them to the shoulder pad.

Sew the pins on the back of the shoulder pads so you can place them on different clothes.

You are ready to go!

Let me know what you think about my new DIY Tutorial!

Pearl Collar & Denim Shirt

February 8th, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

Denim Shirt

Quick outfit post with my latest DIY collar! I used this collar yesterday on the Diet Coke & Benefit Press Launch!

I choose the washed denim shirt as it is one of my favorite garments on my wardrobe and I matched with the green lacy shorts that brings a small bite of summer into my look.

The green on the shorts contrast with the copper colour of my collar, bringing almost a St. Patricks day vibe!

Outfit:

Shirt: Forever 21

Shorts: Forever 21

Boots: Zara

Collar: DIY

This is it girls!

Bites of Brazil

January 31st, 2012 by Daphne Lopes

As I’ve been telling you during my last posts I was on holidays in Brazil. Unfortunately holidays aren’t  forever and here I am, back to Ireland!

But is still not late to share some bites of my holidays! On this pics are some of my favorite spots: a super cool old-looking  bar at Praça Roosevelt, the fresh market (OMG I will miss the fruit so much…) and the Graffiti Metallic Wall in front of my house.

I know everybody thought I would come back really tanned from my holidays but I possibly brought the Irish sky to Brazil and even though was 35 degrees there was no sun.

So this is it girls! Back to my normal routine again!

Pin Up Photoshoot

Pin Up Style

Pin Up

On my point of view the Pin Up culture is one of the most interesting fases of fashion.

Besides being absolutelly sexy, Pin-Ups are also the symbol of women with beautiful hour-glass body shapes.

On celebrities world, Dita Von Teese, Katy Perry and Gween Stefani are few examples of women that once in a while dress-up like if they were on a Art Frahm’s sketch.

On this 50′s Vibe I posed for a photoshoot in tribute for this style!

Wearing a High-Waisted Lace Skirt (A/Wear), black stockings (La Senza), Vintage style black bra (Primark), Black Shoes with a Bow and a Black hat (flea market).

Floral Vibe

During my holidays I went for my first Fabric-Hunt. It seems like finding the perfect floral is not as easy as I thought. I want to design my own floral& lace dress, the perfect fabric would be floral in shades of blue and orange.

S/S 12 is all about feminity and body shapes, that’s why lace and florals are perfect!

On this photoshoot I was wearing such a pretty Floral Shirt from Zara, I am literally amused by this print. Besides the black background it is really summery. The linen high-waisted trousers are always a summer must-have.

The green rounded sunglasses are from River Island!
